Montrose is an expert in the fields of regulatory compliance, electromagnetic compatibility and product safety including extensive research, design, test and certification for various product categories. He has authored and presented a myriad of papers on the topics of EMC theory and signal integrity at both commercial and EMC symposiums and colloquiums throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
Mr. Montrose is a senior member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and member of the Board of Directors of the IEEE EMC Society. In addition, he is a distinguished lecturer for the society and active participant in local, national, and international activities of the society. Moreover, Mr. Montrose is the author of the best-selling companion book, EMC and the Printed Circuit Board: Design, Theory, and Layout Made Simple (IEEE Press, 1999). OK, but missing something

So far it has been useful in my designs. They seem to be better and I am sure the book has helped with certification. It has some very useful information. Unfortunatly, it does not have much supporting information or theoretical proofs. Perhaps this helps the non-math oriented user, but I can't imagine why a non-math oriented user would need such a book or what such a person would be doing designing for EMC. As an engineer, I don't take things on face value without understanding of why. The lack of general theory also makes it difficult to extend the information provided to areas not covered in the book. In short, I'd like to know a bit more about why.

good for a lot of EMC/EMI pains

I got this book because the boss said to find something to help resolve the FCC/CE and other world EMI/EMC compliance issues we have, and it was instantly used and had the answers we needed.
It covers power and grounds, signal integrity, and used with Howard Johnson's book (High Speed Digital Design), gives a strong insight to the PC board layout issues of high speed digital and analog electronics.

Terrible book

This book looks perfect on paper. The subject matter is important, it talks about many practical concepts, the cover is cute, etc. But trying to read this book I was very disappointed. The author has just cut and pasted some well-known ideas but doesn't explain anything clearly. Despite knowing the subject I found it painful to follow. I wanted to throw the book away after reading a few sections, but I kept telling myself "it can't be that bad, the material is fine, let me give it another chance". But the book is that bad! It is no excuse that this is a "handbook". There are many books that are not textbooks that do a great job explaining things. I feel sorry for anybody who is trying to learn by reading this book. If you are a beginner read Howard Johnson's classic "Black Magic" book. If you are more advanced read Clayton Paul or books on Microwave design.
I donated my book to the city library, but I was very tempted to throw it away to save somebody else from struggling with it.

please, no more "hallmark" monsters, or Deniro either for that matter

I really wish Steve Niles would try and persuade Bernie to give his monster a haircut, I really really do. Some clodhopper shoes would be nice too, but the haircut is a MUST! Who does he think this "monster" is, Cain from 'kung fu' ? I was a die-hard frankenstein NUT, and I loved the Shelley book and the first two universal movies, I liked the TV movie with Michael Sarazan also. But that guy who played the monster in the "Hallmark" TV movie irritated the hell out of me, (worse than irritated, BORED me) and THATS what Bernies "monster" is beginning to remind me of. He needs to think more on the lines of the Dick Briefer comic and not at all on the lines of the Hallmark movie monster, this would make MYSELF happy anyways. Sure, the monster wanted company, and he had been wronged by everyone, but self-pity is boring. Karloff understood. Karloffs genius lays in giving the monster just the smallest note of pathos, with a major helping of hate and vengance. Kirbys early Hulk comic was inspired by the Frankenstein monster
It has always been my contention that if they wanted to make a perfect Frankenstein project, they need to visualize the monster from "Bride of Frankenstein" going through Mary Shelleys story, with the monsters dialouge far more in lines with Karloffs interpretation than with Shelleys. This is my feeling on the subject

Insight from 4 centuries before Christ!

Wow, what an amazing piece of history this writing is! You really cannot understate the importance of Plato's "The Republic." The writing explores what an ideal state/nation/society is and how to achieve it. I won't go into too much detail, but the writing covers A LOT of ground. It discusses the nature of justice, the theory of forms, the immortality of the soul, and the role of philosophy and poetry in society. Great Book!

he book offers many samples, templates checklists and tips and tricks on a breadth of pertinent topics. Concepts and terms are explained clearly. I have read many QA and testing books, but I haven't seen any that outline the skills and tips on how to get started as a software tester.

Following the advice given in the book will help both novices and seasoned professionals. I highly recommend that anyone seeking a first time job as a manual tester or someone who can appreciate a high level review.

I've always been curious about how manual testings are done. I thought it was a simple task but when I read this book, it's so much more than what the name "manual testing" meant. Despite the short length of the book, it's well-informed and meticulous with the details. There are charts and images to illustrate what the discussion was about. Awesome book.

I read this book with great interest and found that it contains very useful information. The use of enhancers is often essential in the design of novel pharmaceutical products and new therapies. I think that this book presents a concise, readable, and in-depth review of the fundamentals, applications, and optimizations of the various means to promote drug absorption for the most used administration routes. The book contains numerous examples of specific delivery systems as well as methods of their evaluation both in vitro and in vivo. The reader is inspired with new ideas to choose the appropriate enhancer for a new product and is provided with "pro" and "contra" regarding the use of specific permeation enhancement techniques.

The contributors are well known international experts from academia and industry.

About the Author
Richard J. Diven has almost forty years experience in the demolition industry, as a member of the senior management team at structural demolition company ICONCO between 1964 and 2000, and as founder of R. J. Diven Consulting, LLC. He has played a key role in projects ranging from earthquake repairs in Los Angeles to the demolition of aircraft hangars in Pearl Harbor. Mark Shaurette is an assistant professor in building construction management at Purdue University. He was previously president of Meridian Homes, Inc. and vice president of Ryan Homes. He has a master's degree in civil engineering from MIT and a PhD from Purdue University.

First off, I am in now way affiliated with these authors, publishers, or trying to promote anything within its pages. If this book isn't suggested study material for every state contracting licensing exam, it should be. Very informative and very comprehensive. The authors were dead on and know their field extremely well. On a business level, I would never recommend this book, (upper hand to the competition !). Unfortunately, I still have a small amount of honor and integrity left in me since becomming a contractor and I have to give this book the recognition and praise it deserves. Great job guys!

This book tells a lot about demolition. Lots of photos which are not needed. But an overall good book. Many rules that are done regarding a demolition are not mentioned that should be. For example, when demolishing a structure, it is best that any reclamation of wood, steel, or other items from the building structure prior to demolition be supervised. As, removing removing building supports can cause the building to fall differently. There are a few other minor issues, but its a god book. I would like to be able to purchase less expensive paperbacks though.
