I've read all of Gary's books. My favorite thing about Gary's writing style is no matter where you are, the material will rise up to meet you as an invitation to a different reality. If you are looking to add and create something different in the world, this a great book for you. "Beyond the Utopian Ideal" gave me practical tools, questions and different points of views to explore. I loved it and will read it again and again.

I enter the building and decide to take the stairs to the third floor instead of the elevator. As I get to the second level, a voice bounces off the walls and stops me dead in my tracks. “You must want Mr. Matthews to get hurt.”
I gasp in shock as I look up to see Antonio walking down the stairs towards me. My first thought is, ‘Shit did he see me with Derrick…and if he did, how much did he actually see?!’ My second thought is, ‘He’s so intimidating when he stabs me with those cold pewter eyes. Now is definitely not the time to talk about money!’ Then bizarrely I think, ‘My Gawd! No man should be that damn fine!’ To see such powerful thighs encased in a pair of very long denim blue jeans. And his chest! His chest and arms are so muscular, he must never miss a workout. There is nothing NOT sexy about Antonio Bentini. He is definitely a triple threat.

“Imagine my surprise… I get back in town, rush here to see my lady… And find her in the arms of another man.” Antonio’s voice is low and dangerous. I want to say something. I open my mouth to say something. My lips move, but no words come out.

“You didn’t answer my question, Ti. Do you want Derrick Matthews to get hurt?”

How in the world would he hurt him? He can‘t be saying that he’ll have a physical confrontation with Derrick? –Is he?

“No…No, of course not.” I start stepping back. Antonio matches me step for step until he backs me up against the wall.

“Whatever is going on between you and Derrick Matthews stops today. This minute. Do you understand what I’m saying, Tiressa?” He grates out in an infuriated voice. He seems more threatening because he isn’t yelling. The more upset he is, the lower his voice—as if it takes him a great deal of control not to lose control. Although we are not touching, I can feel the heat and energy radiating from his body into mine.

I guess I didn’t answer fast enough because Antonio grabs me by the arms and gives me a little shake. I quickly stammer a reply. “Yes. I understand you. But there’s nothing going on between us!”

“Don’t insult my intelligence, Tiressa.” Antonio snarls, squeezing my arms as he hauls me onto the tip of my toes and up against his solid torso.

“I’m not. I don’t have feelings for him..,not like that! He wants to date me, but I told him that I’m seeing someone—”

“You’re doing a hell of a lot more than seeing someone. Did you tell him that you and I are together."

I don't know what the hell I was thinking. This was just some disjointed and thrown together mess. I really tried to give this book a shot. I read the sample thinking, that while this isn't the most grammatically correct book, it seemed to have an interesting story line. And I am not one of those grammar Nazis that where every single sentence needs to be put together and spelled just so. But goodness, I've got a breaking point and I reached it while reading this. I should have paid more attention to the freaking cover, that would have told me a whole lot about this book already. Did you notice the spelling of the title? 'Loving a Bettini'. B-e-T-T-i-n-i. While right beside it, it states 'Mr Bentini's Lady'. B-e-N-t-i-n-i. The freaking name of the hero is spelled two different ways! The characters are all over the place. The timeline is iffy at best. For instance, in the one and only sex scene in this book, the heroine is thinking back about the sex they just had and states the hero came (orgasmed) like 2 or 3 times. Yet, during the actual reading of the scene, I only read of once, and even then it wasn't very clear. It's actually pretty choppy in its telling, as a matter of fact. And another thing, in the description of the book, we read there is another version, a more erotic version. So since I didn't find another version on Amazon, I assumed it to be like the other books I've read that has a cleaner version and you are able to go to either one in the table of contents after you purchase it. No, that wasn't the case. There was only one. No variational chapters or anything like that. And whichever one this is, is lukewarm in heat at best. By the way, this is part one of however many in this series. There is no kind of resolution to their relationship at the end of this novel, at all. I really hated to write this, bc I wanted to like this book. It has all my favs; a sweet, black, girl next door type that catches the eye of the hot, rich, alpha white guy. I wouldn't have even minded paying for the multiple parts to the series, had it actually been enjoyable. I would really love for this author to do a complete rewrite. I would like to know what happens between the H/h. But not at the poor quality of this book. Good grief I am disappointed!

Okay, I'm confused not only didn't the author finish this book but she is selling the same book with a few additions and asking for more of our money for something we should have gotten the first time or at least offered it for free for those that already purchased. I have stated many times before and I will say it again, I am so fed up with these authors writing sequels to get more of our hard earned money and ironically many of these Volume 1's, or Book 1's are not worth the purchase of the 2nd story, especially when the female character was so naive that she pretty much allowed every man in her life to practically stalk her while she waffled between whether she should date these creeps or not. Back and forth, back and forth, it was tiring to see her constant indecision and quite frankly I'm not to happy with the Bentini men either, they had very callous attitude about the women they supposedly love in the name of pleasing their parents (William/Katherine as well as our main characters here), yet supposedly their parents taught them to be open minded. Yeah, right only if one of their children doesn't actually bring the wrong type of mate home (not clearly stated but hellavu implied).

I have to agree with many other reviews. The book is ok... But the switch of character voices is confusing. she switches so quickly for Tiressa and Antonio. That I am left unsure for a moment who is speaking. The story has as a fighting chance of being a good story, but it needs a serious rewrite. The one time the characters has sex make it seem like he raped her. Hell if she is begging him to stop and he keeps going...... it's rape. I don't think that was the full intentions of the author. Which is why i am saying this book is ok. We will see in the next book.

I didn't wanna buy this because I usually don't like love triangles. But this was actually really good. I wish that it hadn't have ended as it did. Meaning I wish it was longer becAuse it was written well and had so much potential. Like delving into her adoption, her relationship with her parents and more between her and Beth. Overall good and I will read another by this author. Just take into consideration ms. Williams ur a good writer just want MORE. Thank you! :)

I really enjoyed this story with Nathan, Rochelle there love conquered all. I loved how Nathan at the end fought for the love of his women, don't see to much of that now in real life. And Rochelle adopted sister Beth was a trip but thankfully she got it together. This like I said was a Fabulous ride you will enjoy it.

What's worse than a poorly written story? An incomplete story with the bones to be a great one!

The ending was rushed. Typos. And worse of all incomplete! She has a really good writing voice. It if she continues this route, she should choose a different path.

About the Author
Edward Scheinerman is Vice Dean for Education at the Whiting School of Engineering of the Johns Hopkins University where he is Professor of Applied Mathematics & Statistics with a secondary appointment in Computer Science. Renowned for his clear writing, he has twice won the Mathematical Association of America's Lester R. Ford Award for outstanding mathematical exposition.

When I look at the patterns, I can hear the wheels turning. When I look at the math, I find out the hamsters have died.

Nice little reference and beyond

First, this book is not an endless guide to all things math symbols and there are some limitations. Though it does provide a useful guide for students.

One of the major limits of this book is that it is limited to math. So if you are reading an equation in your Calculus book and want to look up a symbol in this book you may not find it. Because it is a physics symbol. Like angular veloctiy ( lower case omega ) won't be found here, but it is covered in the book from a pure mathematical standpoint.

Also this book does not cover every usage since math books were written.

one minor thing I notice missing was epsilon defined for Calculus limits in this book.

He does a great job with the standard greek usage for functions, like Euler totient and such. And he provides the same for constants that everyone should probably know.

Also he does a great job of clarifying when multiple symbols are used for the same notation, and how to use them without mixing and matching. So there is some elements of style in this book.

The index by Greek letter is not totally complete, since it does not include the numerical constants. ( kind of odd ). But it is very helpful that the book has and index by symbols, both greek and otherwise, and an topical index.

The latex chart is a nice bonus.

Overall for the novice student this is better than trying to search a website, and it is informational. For the advanced student, it might not be the book for you.

All in all it is still worth the price.

Indispensible for deciphering cryptic math notation

Highly recommended for anyone with a programming background who occasionally needs to dip into academic / mathematical articles. You can't really type mathematical symbols into a Google or Wikipedia search if you come across one that you don't recognize - this little book solves that problem perfectly, and explains enough of the mathematics that you can often piece together an understanding of the subject without looking further. Great book.

Disappointing

I own his endgame manual and was amazed at the detailed analysis of many types of positions therein. There is little in here in terms of advice/insight to help with calculation. Certainly studies will help calculation, but this is simply a collection of studies, for which there are many other excellent sources online. This book will sell on name recognition and the fancy title, and while certainly it isn't bad, there is no curriculum here, just a set of difficult studies.

A great book for become a more attractive version of yourself

This is an excellent book about sexual attraction in both men and women. The writer goes into detail of proven attributes of attractiveness and backs it up with scientific research and evidence. In the book, one of the major chapters
goes into detail of where to meet someone, how to start the conversation and how to portray attractive body language, which is something new I learnt.

I thoroughly enjoyed the part of "Window to the soul" as the writer shows how the eyes show interest to a person and
the final chapter on "The strangest truths" was an eye opener.

Overall, this is a great book if you want to know how to attract the opposite sex and become a more attractive version of yourself. I would advise you to read this book with an open mind. Highly recommended.
