Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Set at summer camp for the handicapped, 'The Fight' shows the life of the handicapped in a light that I'd never imagined. You know the golden rule: don't hit girls or guys wearing glasses. I'd always imagined the handicapped as a benevolent fraternal order; I've never imagined 'them' behaving the same way 'normal' kids do when egos are rubbed the wrong way.

'The Fight' also encapsulates the sheer will and determination that is the embodiment of the human spirit; where there's a will there's a way; man can do anything he sets his mind to. Not only are physical challenges faced and conquered in 'The Fight'. but mental and emotional challenges are faced as well - by Dave Riggler, his friends, as well as his enemies.

I give this story 4 stars out of 5 on the following scale:
+ poor read
++ so-so read
+++ good read
++++ excellent read
+++++ life changing read

Note of caution: 'The Fight' contains a good amount of profanity...the kind that gets slung about when egos are pushed to the limit.

I have loved sweet pickles books since I was about 8 years old. I'm now 26 with three children of my own and have always wanted to share these wonderful books with them. I had the entire series of sweet pickles books.My mother had stored them in a family storage area. When my mother and I went to go get them we were disgusted to discover that they were not there. We called everyone in the family that had access to this storage area. Finally my Aunt told my mother that she had taken the books and gave them all to her grandchildren. She said she didnt know anyone wanted them. So now we had to see if her grandchildren still had all my books. Well I am very, very, sorry to say they lost or tore up all but one. Needless to say I was so upset. The only one they had was, Who Stole Alligator's Shoe? I have it now but it is falling apart.I would really LOVE to share my old books with my children, but now that will never happen. Please if anyone has the series of the sweet pickles books contact me. My E-mail is darlene808@hotmail.com. I would greatly appreciate it! I could never say enough good things about these awesome books!!

AWESOME SERIES - BRING IT BACK - PLEASE!!!

I am 26 years old and I LOVE Sweet Pickles. There, I said it. I thought that I was going mad when I couldn't find them anywhere. I would pay any amount of money to get them back. There are not too many good learning books out there for children anymore and I would love to share with mine the stories that I grew up with. Please contact me if any of you know where I can get my hands on them. Unfortunately, mine got destroyed in a flood in our basement. I would do (almost) anything to get them back on my bookshelf to share with my kids. My favorite is about the Zany Zebra who used to ride around on his skate board creating all sorts of havoc. Please, if youa are a Weekly Reader person reviewing, please bring it back. If you are another publisher reading this, please get smart and buy the rights from Weekly Reader. These testomonies should be proof enough that this series should have been here to stay. Thanks.

Best Childhood Reading Memories!!!

I absolutely adored this series of books and now I want copies more than ever. I don't remember how I ended up with the whole series but they were by far my most loved and abused books as a kid. In the spirit of sharing the wealth (much to my own protests) my mother gave my collection to a younger relative when she thought I had outgrown them. I'm sure the relative enjoyed them as much as I did but I thought she should have found her own set and left mine alone! I hope that these delightful stories will be reprinted. I desperately want to collect the set so that I can enjoy the series from a parents' perspective when I have children. To anyone who is lucky enough to have copies of these treasures, by all means hold on to them, they're worth it!

About the Author
Ralf Kreher works as Senior Software Architect for Tektronix Communications (Test and Optimization) business with focus on UMTS and LTE Performance Measurement and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) implementation. Before joining the engineering department he lead the Tektronix Mobile Protocol Test Customer Training Department for almost four years being responsible for a world-class seminar portfolio for mobile technologies and measurement products. Kreher holds a Communication Engineering Degree of the University of Applied Science, Deutsche Telekom Leipzig. He is internationally recognized author of the books UMTS Signaling and UMTS Performance Measurement.

Karsten Gaenger received a Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the Berlin University of Technology. He was with the Fraunhofer HHI research institute from 2004 to 2006. During this time he published several IEEE papers on his development of a reliable real-time streaming system and protocol for Mobile Ad-Hoc networks. His research interests are mobile communications, IPTV, and robust real-time video streaming. Currently he is with Tektronix, Inc. and takes part in the mobile test and optimization division for 3G and LTE networks. He is a Solution Architect with RAN focus for testing and monitoring real-time multi-media streaming in next generation mobile networks. His current projects include the development of a passive LTE air interface probe.

Very useful and well-explained.

This book sheds a lot of light on LTE air interface processes, the parameters and performance indications involved, and the practical considerations which affect RAN performance. It's hard to get open and common-sense explanations from the network manufacturers' documentation, since their focus is mainly on their products and implementation. This book provides a good foundation, practical interpretation of performance data, and the rationale for improvement. Thanks - we needed this!
