Some Good Information, But Now I'm Really Confused

This book has some good information. But I wish that 2 of the points made, were explained better and in more detail. The first one is on getting authority bloggers/site owners in one's niche, to write a review for your book and be compensated for it. I read it over 4 times, and still couldn't figure out the conflicting advice, which now has me confused.

First the book stated that it is aware of Amazon's terms of service that you can't have a paid review on their website. But in the next page, it then went on to say, "Be sure he understands you do not want him to put his review of your book inside of Amazon, UNLESS he says in his review that it was a 'compensated' review". So I'm confused. If this happens, then isn't this exactly what goes against Amazon's TOS ? If you pay someone $50 to $100 to review your book and recommend it to their mailing list, and they then go and post a review on Amazon and the review ends up there as well as their own website, or even instead of his own website, won't that jeopardize my account with Amazon when they find out ?

It goes on to say that, the truth is we don't care if he puts his review on Amazon or not, and that we should tell him we want him to read our book and specifically "share his review with his subscribers". Which sounds fine, if this person follows directions. Otherwise, I'm afraid to think of the trouble this may cause me when Amazon finds out.

The other tip I wish was explained in more detail, was about the authority niche mailing list owners putting their Amazon affiliate link to your book in their emails, and how it's against Amazon's TOS. But to let them deal with how they will handle the affiliate links. So, does this mean that if they get caught or approached by Amazon, that I will be held responsible ? Confused at how this was explained.

Again, since the guide was geared and billed towards individuals who have either not yet published their book, or have published very few books, I only wish the conflicting pieces of advice were just explained in more detail, as I don't want to do something that would jeopardize all my hard work. I think if the book had a couple more pages of detail, that would have been super.

If I have completely misunderstood the sentences that were written in the book, my apologies, so if anyone has more details on the exact in's and out's of doing this with no risk, please feel free to jump in. Thanks.

A Roadmap to Bookselling Success

This short read is an excellent guide to help people like me sell more books. I am a self-published author of two books; one nonFiction and one KindleShortreads fiction book. I have been stumbling around trying many things to sell my books. I was happy with the 350 copies of the the nonfiction book because it established me as an expert in the field of wiriting proposals to help businesses get business with the Government.

My little fiction book, however, is another story. It is my baby . . . A story about the warriors when defend our skies! I have been frustrated because I work full time writing my technical proposals and have been trying many time intensive methods to get people to notice my fiction book. My sales haVe been limited only around 850 copies. . . My frustration has been - I have been spinning my wheels trying to get people to notice my little book taking up the time I could use to pursue other writing projects ( including continuing my warrior's journey).

Mr. Platt has provided a roadmap for me, and others like me, to establish a system where we can get others to provide our books the light of day. It may take a little effort but the end result will be a systems serving me from book to book.

I highly recommend this book for those who want success in the write ting field.

No Brainer....get it now.

This is of the best books I have ever read on the subject of book marketing. Far too many books just give you a broad outline of what it takes to market a book. They say...."Make a good book and have a social media profile." Excuse me? Of course we all know that. I need information that leads to some directly actionable steps to take to get my books in front of the eyeballs of people who would most likely want to read them....PERIOD. Bill does that here. Sure, you will have to do a tiny bit of leg work but he points you directly where that leg work needs to be directed and how to go about it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get more sales....I am implementing my new found strategies literally as I am writing this. THANKS BILL!!

About the Author

Gil Fried, JD, is professor and chair of the management and sport management department in the College of Business at the University of New Haven. He worked as a financial analyst with Paul Kagan Associates and analyzed numerous broadcasting contracts. He has written numerous books and articles, taught graduate and undergraduate courses in sport finance, and lectured on finance topics to various audiences. Besides teaching, Fried coordinates the management of sports industries graduate program at the University of New Haven.

Fried enjoys playing badminton and softball and being involved in his community.

Tim DeSchriver, EdD, is an associate professor in the department of business administration of Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware. DeSchriver has worked as a field economist for the U.S. Department of Labor and has taught undergraduate and graduate instruction in sport finance and sport economics since 1998. He has authored and contributed to several books and sport finance–related publications in refereed journals.

DeSchriver enjoys road cycling, mountain biking, and hiking in his spare time.

Michael Mondello, PhD, is an associate professor in the department of management at the University of South Florida. Mondello teaches classes in the sport and entertainment MBA program. His research interests include finance and economics of sport organizations, and his work has been published in the International Journal of Sport Finance, Economic Development Quarterly, Sport Marketing Quarterly, International Journal of Sport Management, Journal of Sports Economics, and Journal of Sport Management. Before his appointment at USF, he was a faculty member at both the University of Florida and Florida State.

About the Author
Dr. Ron Larson is a professor of mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University, where he has taught since 1970. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Colorado and is considered the pioneer of using multimedia to enhance the learning of mathematics, having authored over 30 software titles since 1990. Dr. Larson conducts numerous seminars and in-service workshops for math educators around the country about using computer technology as an instructional tool and motivational aid. He is the recipient of the 2014 William Holmes McGuffey Longevity Award for CALCULUS: EARLY TRANSCENDENTAL FUNCTIONS, the 2014 Text and Academic Authors Association TEXTY Award for PRECALCULUS, the 2012 William Holmes McGuffey Longevity Award for CALCULUS: AN APPLIED APPROACH, and the 1996 Text and Academic Authors Association TEXTY Award for INTERACTIVE CALCULUS (a complete text on CD-ROM that was the first mainstream college textbook to be offered on the Internet). I could barely get through the first chapter without getting turned on. Graphing polynomials, exponential equations and logarithmic functions..hummana hummana hummana. Went through two bottles of lotion and three boxes of Kleenex. You have to get this book.

Being Aware & Mindful Can Improve Your Life in Many Ways

One of the things I often recommend to friends, clients and listeners on my radio show is to be aware of what is happening around them - for many reasons, not the least of which is for their safety. There are other reasons to be aware or as Wil Dieck discusses in his book - being mindful. Mindful of yourself, your feelings, your emotions and much more.

I enjoyed how he explains mindfulness and how it impacts so many factors in your life. Once you have a clear idea of what mindfulness is and how it affects you - he clearly lays out how to improve your mindfulness, how to meditate and how to relax. I need a lot of help with learning to relax and there is a full chapter on relaxation.

Understand the difference between "being" and "doing". The chapter on emotional awareness is very helpful - also learning how to handle distractions. You will be amazed at how beneficial it is to learn to breath - and using deep breathing. We all have plenty of stress, anxiety and distractions. We can let these things derail us and create havoc in our lives, or we can understand how to increase our awareness and mindfulness. I think you will be amazed how much life can change and improve when you master these things in your life. The content in this book will help you to do that.

There are some editing issues but they shouldn't distract you from the meat of the message.

Blueprint for Personal Transformation!!!

If I could go back in time and give my 5 year old self some advise; it would be to MEDITATE!

16 years ago I started my own journey to knowing myself... and it started with MEDITATION! I started practicing mindfulness and didn't even know it by that name.

I LOVE Professor D's focus on the present because it's true; the past and the future do not exist, the only thing that matters is this very moment. I do think we should learn from the past and prepare for the future by what we do, in this present moment.

Here are a few things you will learn by reading Modern Mindfulness:
1. Breaking mental patterns that do not serve you.
2. How less can lead to more.
3. How being tolerant builds a strong character.
4. Learn why there's power in forgiving yourself.
5. The importance of NOW; stop existing and start living.
6. Practical explanations of the benefits of mindfulness.
7. and some much more... too much to list them all!

This book is an easy read with lots of information; I LOVE the Actionable steps to implementing the strategies in your everyday life.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has the courage to take their life to the next level and beyond!!!

Quick read with great advice on living in the present

The primary message of Modern Mindfulness is to live in and fully experience the present. Worry and anxiety stem from stressing about the future, and depression often results from focusing on past mistakes. In our busy lives, we do a lot of things on “autopilot” with our minds in one place and our bodies in another. Wil Dieck’s book teaches the reader how to instead be fully engaged in the present, shifting from “doing mode” into “being mode,” and experiencing life with the five senses. Some of his techniques include deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, visualization and walking mindfulness. There were some grammatical and spelling errors in the book, but the material was very good.

It is like sitting down with a one-on-one session with Harold Enlow

Harold Enlow has been around for years, and this booklet is like sitting down with him to watch him and learn. Faces, like hands have always been a challenge for me. Whether my favorite knife or palm chisels, my interpretation of a face could be saved by some paining, but my satisfaction and self esteem have realy taken a beating. This book has given me confidence and with that has improved my skills. It is a small book, which for this topic is really the right format for me and it is easy to slip into my carving bag, and I am referring to it often. Since I bought the companion "Learn to Carve Faces", my review is similar, but I do go into more details on that particular subject. I hope you find this little book a welcome addition to giving you the pictures, tips and techniques that help you.

Great Reference

I keep this on my workbench with Harold's other books as a reference for facial features. Clear step-by-step instructions in a small package. I wish he would do a wall chart so I could put the whole series in plain view but this works well for me.
